Welcome to the Membership Application Page of the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers

Please note that the following are the only grades available for application are as follows:
  1. Student
  2. Undergraduate
  3. Graduate
  4. Affiliate
  5. Corporate
  6. Retired
Please carefully review the below information on the qualification criteria and required application documentation for each grade, which would give guidance to the most appropriate grade to be applied for.

Any reference to the masculine pronoun shall be interpreted as inclusive of both male and female.

A Corporate Member shall at the time of his application:
  • possess a degree from a university or school of engineering recognized by the Company or shall possess some equivalent qualification recognised by the Company1; and,
  • has had not less than four (4) years approved experience in engineering subsequent to obtaining his qualifications; and,
  • be actively engaged in professional engineering works; and,
  • be a registered engineer in accordance with the Engineers Registration Act CAP 368B.
An applicant for Corporate Membership must submit:
  • Photographic ID (i.e., picture-facing page/side of either Driver’s License, National ID or passport- document must be valid).
  • A copy of his University Degree.
  • A valid certificate of engineering from the Registrar in Barbados.
  • A signed form from one (1) Proposer, who shall be a Member of the Association for more than five (5) years and shall be at Corporate or Fellow Grades.
A Corporate Member may use the designation “MBAPE”;
An Affiliate Member shall be one:
  • who does not qualify for membership under any of the foregoing subsections of Corporate Member, particularly clause (a), but who holds a position of responsibility in engineering acceptable to the Company2; and,
  • whose academic pursuits and practical experience are in the opinion of the Company likely to enable him to contribute to the advancement of engineering knowledge.
An applicant for Affiliate Membership must submit:
  • Photographic ID (i.e., picture-facing page/side of either Driver's License, National ID or passport - document must be valid)
  • A copy of his University Degree in accordance with section 2a; or, proof that the applicant holds a position of responsibility in engineering; or proof of academic pursuits or practical experience are likely to enable him to contribute to the advancement of engineering knowledge.
  • A signed form from one (1) Proposer, who shall be a Member of the Association for more than five (5) years and shall be at Corporate or Fellow Grades.
An Affiliate may use the designation "Affiliate BAPE".

A Retired member shall have retired from active engineering practice as a Corporate member or Affiliate member.
A Graduate Member shall at the time of his application for membership possess a degree from a university or school of engineering recognised by the Company or shall possess some equivalent qualification recognized by the Company3.

An applicant for Graduate Membership must submit:
  • Photographic ID (i.e., picture-facing page/side of either Driver’s License, National ID or passport- document must be valid).
  • A copy of his University Degree in accordance with section 5; or, proof that the applicant holds a position of responsibility in engineering; or proof that the applicant possesses some equivalent qualification recognized by the Company.


An Undergraduate Member shall at the time of his application be actually pursuing a course of study which leads to an academic qualification recognized by the Company4.

An applicant for Undergraduate Membership must submit:
  • Photographic ID (i.e., picture-facing page/side of either Driver’s License, National ID or passport- document must be valid).
  • Proof that he is actually pursuing a course of study which leads to an academic qualification recognized by the Company – e.g., recent transcript, letter of acceptance, etc.


A Student Member shall for the duration of this membership be over fourteen (14) years of age and pursuing a course of study in a school or technical college in a minimum of three STEM subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Studies etc.

An applicant for Student Membership must submit:
  • Photographic ID (i.e., picture-facing page/side of either Driver’s License, National ID or passport- document must be valid).
  • Proof that he is actually pursuing a course of study in a school or technical college in a minimum of three STEAM subjects – e.g., transcript, letter from school, etc.
  • If under 18, parental consent for application – i.e., a letter signed by parent/guardian.

          I hereby apply for election as/transfer to a member of the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers and hereby declare that the statements made herein are correct to the best of my knowledge and belief, and I agree that in the event of my election I will be governed by the By Laws & Code of Ethics of The Barbados Association of Professional Engineers as they are now formed or as they may hereafter be altered; and that I will promote the objects of the Association as far as may be in my power provided that in the event of my signifying in writing to the Secretary that I am desirous of withdrawing my name from the Membership Roll I shall be free from this obligation.
