Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:
  1. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Barbados
  2. Be ordinarily resident in Barbados at the time of application
  3. Be accepted into or currently enrolled in an accredited engineering undergraduate programme, locally, regionally or internationally
  4. Be pursuing one of the following disciplines (or related fields):
    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Environmental / Water Resources Engineering
    • Renewable Energy / Energy Systems Engineering
    • Other Engineering fields not listed here may also be considered
  5. Meet minimum academic requirements: GPA 3.0 or equivalent
  6. Demonstrate an interest in contributing to the engineering profession in Barbados
  7. Self-certify their financial circumstances and their need for the funding.

  • Completed scholarship application form
  • Proof of Barbadian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Proof of enrollment or offer of admission
  • Official academic transcripts
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • One (1) letter of recommendation (academic and/or professional)
  • Personal Statement
  • Any additional documents requested by the Selection Committee

Personal Statement Requirements

Applicants must submit a personal statement addressing the following themes:

Conditions of Award

Recipients shall:
  • Maintain satisfactory academic standing
  • Submit academic progress reports upon request
  • Participate in mentorship, outreach, or professional development activities where applicable
  • Acknowledge the scholarship in academic or professional materials, where appropriate
  • The administering body reserves the right to suspend or terminate the award if conditions are not met.

Administration & Governance

The scholarship shall be administered by the BAPE Scholarship Committee, which may include representatives from the engineering profession, academia, and industry in Barbados. All decisions of the Selection Committee are final.
